How to Choose the Right Diet for
YOU!
Every year, millions of people resolve to lose weight and
every year, millions fail. Why? Could it really be
as simple as choosing the wrong diet plan to try?
YES!
The first thing people discover when they want to lose
weight is the almost infinite number of diets, programs, and
plans that claim to shed pounds. With all the incredible
claims, how do you wade through the hype? It's enough to
make your head spin.
To be successfully in your weight loss journey, you need to
find the right diet for you. One that fits your
personality and lifestyle. Here's three keys to finding
the right diet.
Proven Track Record
Does the plan show before & after pictures of successful
clients? Have any studies validated the effectiveness of
the diet? Any testimonials from clients?
Customer proof is the absolute bare minimum that a plan
needs to provide. This shows that not only does the
program work, it can work for YOU! Now I'd have to not
one exception to that rule - celebrity endorsements.
Don't go looking for the program that your favorite star
"swears by." Remember, these people are ACTORS who get
PAID to be in front of the camera. Not to mention the
fact that they generally do NOT work 8-5 jobs and can afford
the best in personal trainers and dieticians. Look for
REAL people that got REAL results!
Recommendations by experts and physicians can also be a
bonus. Again, look for multiple references, especially
with physicians. There seems to be an increasing number
of paid endorsements by them as well.
Cost
An effective weight loss program does not need to cost a
fortune. Any plan that asks for "annual dues" paid in
advance or up front payments for required food, should raise
all kinds of red flags. If it sounds too expenisve, keep
looking.
Now, the best diet WILL cost something. For most of
us, that little financial commitment will give us more
incentive to stick with it... we all like to get some kind of
return on our investments (that's a bit rare in today's
economy)!
So expect to pay something... in fact, DO pay something,
just for the added incentive to stick with the plan. But
don't sacrifice next month's mortgage payment!
Compatible with YOU!
This is the big one... the piece that most people get wrong
and end up failing. Consider if the diet actually fits
into YOUR lifestyle.
Do you like to eat? Of course you do, we all do!
So don't pick a plan that will make you starve yourself.
Not only will you not be happy and not stick with it, it's the
wrong way to lose weight! Find a plan that let's you eat
4-6 times a day. Yes, you read that right, up to SIX
times a day.
Do you like a variety of food? Again, I'd say most of
us do. Don't try to work your way into a plan that
eliminates a food group. There's no need for that!
You CAN lose weight on a balanced diet. Plus a plan that
lets you easily swap food choices keeps eating from becoming an
ordeal.
Also look for a plan that has some "wiggle room." A
way to adapt it to your likes & dislikes. Anything
that helps keep the program fresh makes it easier to stick
to.
The best diet for you will be easy to get excited
about. You'll WANT to get started. But that
emotional charge will fade with time... but by then, the pounds
coming off will become your inspiration to continue!
